Some of my Babys

This is my Mom's Doll with Auntie Doris Doll.  I got them both from my sister.

And then I am a big Chatty Cathy Doll fan.  Here are a few of them.

the first is one of the baby twins.  I am making them new matching outfits.

This a group of dolls on the one of the shelfs.  The one with the apron is a doll from a cousin in Finland sent me.  This picture you see was done by my Auntie Ingrid

A new Chatty in a new outfit and hat -- need to buy some buttons for it.

I am working on the baby doll and will post updated photos soon.

Well, the repairs have started . .

But it is taking more time than I thought because it takes so long for things to come from the US to Canada.

Even though what I need was purchased at a town about 2 hrs away, it is first sent from there down South to California then back up North to Canada.

I purchased the elastic string and the composition repair on the 12th of January, as of today, it still has not arrived here.  Hopefully this week.

But in the mean time, I have take her apart to start to clean and then I will have to fill in the damaged parts as well as touch up the paint in spots.

I don't want to totally repaint her because I still want the old feel, but there are spots that really need it as these photos will show.

as you can see, there are several broken spots as well as an additional crack on her bum.  This will be a little harder to repair as at some point in her life (well over 60 years now) someone glued pieces of tape onto her to try and fix it, but it is now a mess, so I am slowly removing the tape.

As you can also see, the heal needs to be totally replaced.  I have ordered a compound that you can mold to the shape and replace that way.

Once this is all done, including filling in the cracks on her head, the painting will begin.   Hopefully within the next 2 weeks.

In the mean time, I am looking for a pattern for a new outfit for her.

Ok, I forgot about this blog and didn't add to it, but now I will start.

My first major project is to clean, repair and make a new outfit for an old composition baby doll that was my Moms.

She had given it to my older sister, but my sister has now given it to me as dolls and old toys are my passion in life aside from genealogy.

So this is my baby now:

As you can see she needs to be restrung, cleaned and her heel repaired.  Beside her is the dress she was in, it is an old silk doll dress and she comes with rubber pants and the purple sheet was her diaper.

She also has a crack across her bum ( and I don't mean the normal one!!)

Today, I ordered the proper string and composition repair from ebay and it should be delivered before the end of the month.

And I just need to think of a proper name for this little lady  -- any suggestions?

Dolls and old Toys

I love old dolls and toys but have never been able to find a group that like them like I do.

I tried a group on facebook, but it all seemed to be about selling their dolls or services.

My main collection is Chatty Cathy Dolls.  I have 19 at the last count, in various stages of being repaired.  Sadly, right now, one little one is headless because I am working on replacing her hair.

This is just the start of this blog, so if you love toys and dolls --- follow along.

Cheers
